In the past people only traveled for going to the beach, relaxing on their vacation, or visiting historic cities. Nowadays trends change every day and we make trips to different places which offer something more to further our holidays and our personal life. Tourism has changed a lot in the recent years. We each try to partake in an interesting activity, something that can teach us something . It is here where we find a new trend: Wine Tourism.
Typical touristic destinations join forces with their regional products and create a perfect team: promoting famous foods and wines to increase the tourism of the area. Also the opposite can work – some wineries and brands are so famous that they make the cities and areas where they are located famous. But the result is the same: having more tourists makes more money. Just a simple economic marketing strategy.
A country where Wine Tourism is very important is Spain. We can find a lot of different regions who promote different types of wine and tourism. Two of the most famous are:
-RIBERA DE DUERO: Near the city of Burgos, located in Castilla y Leon, through Duero river.Famous for the type of grape “Tempranillo”
-RUEDA Located between the cities of Valladolid, Segovia and Avila, in Castilla y Leon. Famous for the type of grape “Verdejo”
One option if you want to enjoy Spanish Wine Tourism is to visit the amazing cities of the wine regions and go to the restaurants where they offer local food and wines. One can also visit the wineries directly and see how the wine is made from the beginning. Excursions from big cities like Madrid or Barcelona to these regions are now very famous. After all, wine has an important part in tourism and can increase economy in regions, cities and countries. You can mix two pleasures in life such as traveling and discovering the world with a nice glass of wine.
