JOB STATEMENT:
The District Sales Manager (DSM) initiates sales programs with distributor management. DSMs monitor distributor performance and address opportunities to increase sales. DSMs operate in the alcoholic beverage three-tier distribution model.
Essential Duties:
- Review and understand all chain/brand sales programs applicable to the assigned area
- Communicate sales program execution in a weekly distributor update call
- Approved distributor depletion allowances and billbacks
- ‘Days in the Trade’ expectation are 3-4 days per week
- Review monthly sales program post-analysis provided from KAMs and address opportunities with distributor management
- Conduct monthly meetings with distributor market leadership
- Update business plan with monthly performance updates and action plans
- Communicate monthly progress to internal management via End of Month update
- Complete inventory assessment and accruals monthly
- Review budget tracker with sales supervisor monthly
- Conduct one-to-one meetings with supervisor and Key Account Managers
- Conduct/Support Quarterly Business Review meetings with distributors
- Facilitate market visits with Marketing team members to assess brand health
- Conduct/Support formal state level surveys with key distributors
- Utilize technology provided to conduct business in an efficient manner
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of wine industry sales management experience as a Key Account Manager or equivalent
- General Alcohol and Beverage experience with a WSET II or CSW or higher certification highly preferred
Knowledge of:
- Excellent communication, organizational, and self-motivational skills
- High level of integrity, confidence
Ability to:
- Possess a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, reliable transportation, and be able to meet the company's insurance requirements
- Forge strong professional relationships in short time frames
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Sit for an extensive period of time
- Lift occasionally (office materials, wine boxes)
- Perform tasks using standard computer equipment
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Indoor climate
- Limited noise levels
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
- Side shield safety glasses, safety vest, head/ear protection and proper footwear when in production facility
